La Guicharde vineyard

We grow the Château's wine according to biodynamic farming, in total harmony with our philosophy of green and sustainable tourism on the unique terroir of the Massif d'Uchaux, in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône vineyards. You will find 40 hectares of vines planted with Grenache Noir, Syrah, Viognier, Roussane, Marsanne and Grenache Blanc, as well as an olive grove offering a delicious organic olive oil, and about twenty hectares of woods and garrigues in the domain.

You will discover a charming Provençal-style building on the edge of the forest, protected by centuries-old plane trees, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, a spring feeding the cellar and the house for ages, garrigue, rosemary and thyme scenting in the surroundings, thundering cicadas in the summer, omnipresent vestiges of the past: from the Via Agrippa to the ruins of the old medieval military buttress to the Romanesque chapel... an eclectic list reminding us of Pagnol.

When you walk along the vineyard path, you quickly see that the parcels of the estate are scattered all over, surrounded by a forest of Mediterranean oaks or pines. This wooded massif is an extraordinary treasure. The vines are certainly the best choice for a fauna greedy for grapes, but they also provide shelter from the scourges and diseases of the wide open spaces found in most of the Rhone Valley!

After converting the vineyard to organic farming, the pretty voice of biodynamics was obvious. Biodynamic agriculture is a method of organic farming that works in real partnership with nature. It means to pay more attention to the vineyard, to understand the changes of the soil and the vine, its deficiencies and try to make up for them with practices that respect the environment. Cultivation techniques, the use of herbal teas and decoctions, respecting nature, the sowing calendar have been implemented... Today our wines hold a pretty patina, a less ostentatious, more discreet but more noble one. It would be a bit simplistic to speak about biodynamics in a few lines, but for those who would like to know more, some of our wines are Demeter certified, others are organic.
